Poem: A Dog Named Man

Intro

Cows & sheep

Moo & bleet

As I walk on down the road

Birds the melody

Feet the beat

As I walk on down the road

Got a swag & a pan

And a dog named Man

And we walk on down the road
----------------

I left my girl and my home town

Coming up 4 years ago

Ever since then me & Man

Been walking on down the road

Got no place that I call home

Cannot be tied down

We wander round me & Man

Get work from town to town

People sometime ask us

Why it has to be this way

But Man don’t answer so I don’t too

And we go about our day

Intro

I was shearing on a farm

Five mile out from Dangaran

For a pretty young widower

Who fell in love with Man

As it turns out it wasn’t just Man

That she took to her heart

We settled in for nigh on three months

Snuck out one night at dark

She cried for weeks

The lambs did bleet

But it’s hard to explain to woman & sheep

Roadside under stars is where we need to sleep

So it’s me & Man, Man & me

And another girl left alone

Next we looking like settlin down

We’ll keep walking on down the road

I haven't posted for some time so I thought I would throw up a poem. A good ole' Aussie bush poem.

Me & Fred

Walkin round the bush

No-one here that I can see

Some spotty cows, a kangaroo

Fred the dog, and me

Now me & Fred we’ve been best mates

Six years now or more

He choose me at a cattle station

Kept hanging round me door

From time to time we don’t have much

Me swag, me boots, me rhyme

But we get by on what we got

And curl by the fire

It’s what we both born to do

Hear sheep baa and cattle moo

Sleep at night under stars and moon

That’s what Fred & Me like to do

So if it’s us you see by the road at night

Don’t look at us with pity or fright

Cause we’re not lonely, sad or blue

Me & Fred got each other, probably happier than you
